[GUIDE] Installing 3.71M33 Custom Firmware.

This guide will explain how to install 3.71M33 on your PSP Classic & Slim
M33 = Dark_AleX!

Getting started You will need the following: A PSP Classic with 3.52 M33-4, or M33-3. OR A PSP Slim with 3.60M33. Your PSP battery is charged to at least 78%. The installation files: Via DL.QJ.NET A USB cable, to connect your PSP to a PC.

Installation for PSP Slim Installing 3.71M33 Custom Firmware on a PSP Slim: Extract the RAR file named release. Place the folder named 'UPDATE' in the following directory: 'X:/PSP/GAME/' Download the 3.71 update, and rename it from 'EBOOT.PBP' to '371.PBP'. Place the 3.71.PBP file in: 'X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/'. In the PSP's main menu, go to GAME > Memory Stick. Run the update. Press X, and once you have completed the verification steps, the updater will start. If your idstorage is corrupt in any way, the installer will ask you to allow it to correct it before the installation continues. Sit back and watch the official Sony updater install a custom firmware!

Installation for PSP Classic Installing 3.71 Custom Firmware on a M33-3/4 PSP: If you haven't already got 3.52M33-4, please read this guide before carrying on: Installing 3.52M33, and updating to M33-4. Turn your PSP off completely. Turn your PSP on holding the R button. Go to Configuration, and set 'Game folder homebrew' to 3.52. Restart your PSP. Extract the RAR file named release. Place the folder named 'UPDATE' in the following directory: 'X:/PSP/GAME/' Download the 3.71 update, and rename it from 'EBOOT.PBP' to '371.PBP'. Place the 3.71.PBP file in: 'X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/'. In the PSP's main menu, go to GAME > Memory Stick. Run the update. Press X, and once you have completed the verification steps, the updater will start. If your idstorage is corrupt in any way, the installer will ask you to allow it to correct it before the installation continues. FAQ My PSP will not boot up. Make sure all plugins are disabled. Do this via Recovery Mode. I keep getting a BSOD when booting my PSP. You must format your flash1. Do this via Recovery Mode > Advanced. Doing so is perfectly safe. Once finished it will prompt you to press X. You must press X as if you switch your console off instead, you will brick your PSP. Some homebrew isn't working, what should I do? Install the 1.50 Kernel Add-On v2.

Installing M33 Updates How to Install M33 Updates: (M33 Firmwares only) This guide will work with all updates that are released, and will be released. Download the update. I will not link to any specific update, as they are released regularly. Place the 'UPDATE' folder in the following directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/' Run the update from your XMB, under GAME > Memory Stick.

So, what new stuff in terms of modding can we do on this version?

My guess is as good as yours I'm afraid. Probably the same as on a PSP Slim 3.60M33.

Have you installed this? Why is the installation different.

Try re-installing your current firmware, then carry out the update.

I can confirm this firmware working. I have installed it myself.

Mine's installing now... takes a while

It took around 40 seconds for me. Not too long.

anyway.... it just said i dont have 3.52 m33-3 or higher which i had 3.52 m33-4... and i tried to make sure the update was what it was.. so i re did the 4 update..... no problems there... tried it again.... nothing


but im just gonna reinstall the cf and go to m33-4 and then try this again

o well..just more work...




and i wasnt inferring that it doesnt work... just sayin it wouldnt accept my version... which was fine.. m33-4... dammit.... will update my progress in a bit... one sec..

Worked fine for me, but SVCapture doesn't work? I also can't figure out how to get homebrew working. My homebrew is is the GAME150 folder and I have set it to 1.50 Kernel. What am I doing wrong?

Same thing happened to me. But it does say in the readme.txt to set it to 3.52kernel in the recovery.
try that. it should work now.

There is no 1.50 kernel. Apparently they are going to bring out an update to fix this, but only for PSP Classics.

Sure you can, just not homebrew that requires the full 1.50 kernel.

Bugger. I want my Large Original+ theme back :( Wonder how long it'll be before the patch is released for the phat.

The slim can't run the 1.50 kernel... and yes, the booting from the MS will work with a Pandora.

u think even if he quit that we'd need to go past 3.71cfw? i couldnt imagine psp games going much farther.......i think they just need to work on making the new sony portable.... instead of umd..... instead of having mem stick... maybe a harddrive... pple could rly like the sony updates and wouldnt mind seein some better portable games.....

im not sayin they should work on it now and release it in like a yr and be like a piece of crap... they can keep making a few more games for the psp... then maybe 2 yrs llater come out with something better... but seriously i think the psps limits have been stressed out... GoW is probly gonna be as good as it gets.... :)

So um... I have a fat PSP with 3.52 M33-4 and a Slim with the official 3.71, so I can make a Pandora battery. Can I install 3.71 M33 on my Slim with Pandora, and if so how?

This is amazing hahah, except for the fact that there is no 1.5 kernel, anyhow, when i read Starting sce updater wait... i was like WHOA NO WAY, and then when i saw iwas like this is bull hahaha! THIS IS HOW THE UPDATER SHOULDVE LOOKED FROM THE START!! DAX! M33!!!
